Baltimore City neighborhoods can develop official “master plans” that establish a shared vision for the neighborhood and provide guidance for community organizations and the City government. Seton Hill last did this in 2012! You can read our last plan here.
Community plans can:
- provide policy guidance to the Planning Commission,
- provide valuable information to City agencies,
- and even lead to the Planning Commission recommending public funding, land disposition, rezoning, or other staff resources necessary to carry out the recommendations of the plan.
We are following a formal process using guidelines from the City’s Department of Planning (see the info on this page under “Community Managed Plans”).
We have formed a Neighborhood Master Planning Committee to lead this work, chaired by Kamil Quinteros, Seton Hill resident, architect, and community planning expert. The committee will create many opportunities for neighbors to contribute to the plan, including a survey and several listening sessions. We aim to be ready to approach the City’s Planning Commission by the new year.
