What Makes Seton Hill Special?
Seton Hill combines historic rowhouse charm with downtown convenience. St. Mary’s Park, downtown Baltimore’s largest open green space, anchors the neighborhood, and you’re within walking distance of Mount Vernon, the Bromo Arts District, several medical campuses, and Baltimore’s MLB and NFL stadiums. It’s also rich in architectural, religious, and African-American history, one of the city’s oldest intact rowhouse neighborhoods, and a designated national and local historic district.
Our Rich Culture & History
Most Baltimore neighborhoods have a history. Seton Hill has one that changed the country:
America’s first Catholic seminary, founded here in 1791, and a chapel basement where four women founded the first Catholic sisterhood for Black women in the United States, in 1829.
That history is still standing, on the same 3.4 acres of park where neighbors garden, ride bikes, and run a flea market today.
